Welcome to our student magazine page! On this page you will find our student led magazine issues which are published termly. Our student magazine editors consist of Year 10 and 12 Media Studies students, who work extremely hard to edit together content submitted by our students into a functioning magazine. We hope you enjoy!
Edition 2 - February 2024
Edition 1 - December 2023
Meet the Team!
We have a range of Year 10 and Year 12 Media Studies students who work on the magazine.
Senior Editors – Year 12
Our Year 12 students take the lead when editing magazine and guide and support the Year 10 students. They take an active role in ensuring that the magazine is relevant to the rest of the student body and do final checks to make sure the magazine is grammatically correct and engaging! They constantly provide feedback to the Junior Editors and ensure that deadlines are hit.
Junior Editors – Year 10
The Year 10s take direction from the Senior Editors and ensure that content is engaging, relevant and relatable to students. They embody everything it means to be a journalist by ensuring deadlines are met and actively take advice on board to ensure that the student magazine is the best it can be!
Editing Process
Here at CNCS, we encourage our student body to be very student led and that definitely doesn’t stop at the magazine. Each half term, Microsoft Forms quizzes are sent out to each individual year group which enables them to supply content for the student magazine. This includes content such as:
- Favourite teacher and subject
- Dad Jokes, riddles, quizzes
- Sporting content
- Cultural diversity
- Opportunities to show off extracurricular achievements and much more!
As well as the Forms quiz, students are actively encouraged to provide feedback on the content of the magazine and these views are considered for the next issue of the magazine. Students can also submit longer content for the magazine on our dedicated email address: newman.news @cncs.school.
Once the content has been submitted, the editing team review submissions and begin to edit on Canva. This is a very accessible website with student friendly software.
Distribution
The magazine is distributed in several ways to our student body. We promote the sale of the magazine in tutor time and is on sale during social times for students to purchase (25p). Students can also access free copies of the magazine in the Library, as well as in their tutor rooms.
As well as print copies, we distribute the magazine via email to all students and promote this on our social media sites too.
We are very proud of our student led magazine!
